About Me

Hi I’m Cory Lawrence. A composer, multi-instrumentalist and content creator. My music has been recorded by the London Contemporary Orchestra and published by Abbey Road Masters, featured in video games, film and TV (including Channel 4). Thanks for checking out my website! Here’s a bit more about me, but I’d love to hear from you!

As an avid video game music composer, I particularly love writing contemporary video game music. I am inspired by Japanese video game composers such as Nobuo Uematsu and Yukihiro Jindo. I love working across genres including orchestral, jazz and electronic styles. I specialise in MIDI arranging, orchestration and live recording

I studied Music Production and Sound Engineering at the Abbey Road Institute and later worked as a Technician assisting on high-profile recording sessions for Genshin Impact, Call the Midwife and artists such as Gary Barlow and David Gilmour.  I am passionate about recording live instrumentation where possible. I have recorded musicians from around the world in my music, using my skills in arrangement, notation and mixing to elevate my music. My main instrument is piano. A highlight of mine is playing piano in the Legendary Abbey Road Studio Two for a song written by Jessi Mac and produced by the legendary Haydn Bendall.

I built an audience through my YouTube channel dedicated to video game music, compositions, remixes and education called Everything Fantasy. This kickstarted my career as a composer and attracted numerous clients. The channel has gained over 2.5 million views. Teaching and sharing what I learn is another passion of mine. I have taught game music and implementation at schools such as the Abbey Road Institute and the Art’s Council funded project, Unsigned and Gifted.

Outside of music, I’m a Governor of a high school, enjoy programming and playing football. I studied Law at the University of Cambridge and worked at Goldman Sachs before making the hugely rewarding leap to immerse myself in the world of audio.

SONG ANALYSIS

NUMBER OF SONGS ANALYSED

On 14/02/2022 the course coordinator at the Abbey Road Institute set me the task of analysing one song everyday for a year. Breaking down the instruments, dissecting the mix and more! I took this challenge to heart and ever since I have analysed one song every single day, covering almost every genre imaginable! On the right you’ll see an example of what an analysis looks like. I keep them all in a Dropbox and track them in a spreadsheet. It’s given me a phenomenal grasp of music and a real understanding of music across the world. I’m learning something new every day!

I’m always open to suggestions of what to analyse!
